KENNEWICK, Wash - United Way of Benton and Franklin Counties surprises this year's Distinguished Volunteer of the Year.

During a board meeting this morning.. Rod Webring was awarded the honor.  Webring is in his seventh year on the United Way Board of Directors, currently serving as Campaign Chair, Emergency Food and Shelter Program Board Chair, Member of the Executive Committee and Speakers Bureau and one of the Community Solutions Team Leaders.

"There are many, many people that have done a lot of hard work and it's tough I know, to select one person. I'm happy to represent them but I feel like I'm representing a lot of other people" Says Webring.

United Way says Webring is a true leader when it comes to building our community.   His wife and children made a surprise visit to the board meeting to see him accept the award.
