PEORIA, Ariz. (AP) - Adrian Beltre says he wants a few more daysto decide whether to defy the Mariners and play in the WorldBaseball Classic.
The Gold Glove third baseman said Wednesday morning he hasreceived permission from the Dominican Republic's WBC team to playa couple of spring-training games for Seattle before making hisdecision.
Beltre wants to test the shoulder he had surgically repairedlast September, but he wonders when the Mariners are going to lethim play.
He was not in the lineup for Wednesday afternoon's game againstSan Diego.
Beltre is on the final WBC roster. The Mariners have alreadytold him they don't want him to play.
