WEST RICHLAND, Wash. - West Richland Fire fighters and police officers are left asking questions after a vacant double wide mobile home goes up in flames Thursday night.
The fire happened on Desert View Drive off Van Giesen Street around 7 o'clock.
Investigators said the family living in the home had just moved out the same day it caught fire. West Richland Fire District 4 Chief Mike Springs commented on the strange coincidence that the family had just moved out, but said only that any fire looks suspicious until proven otherwise and they haven't come to any conclusions.
Chief Springs described the fire as a burning wood stove that went out of control.
"There was fire burning, almost hitting the trailers on both sides of it when I arrived so it was forcefully burning," said Chief Springs.
Neighbors had to evacuate but luckily it only caught a tree on fire and didn't reach the other homes.
