YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash-- Yakima County Sheriff's office has now released the name of the homicide victim found shot and badly burned in a vineyard in Sunnyside. Friends of the victim didn't even know he'd left Wenatchee.

Sheriff's detectives identified him as 39-year-old Saul Carvajal Duarte of Wenatchee. Duarte's body was found in a vineyard off Arrowsmith Road in Sunnyside on February 12th.

Detectives were able to identify him using fingerprint analysis done by the Washington State Patrol Crime Lab.

Duarte's friend, Angela Lopez, said the last time she saw him was at the Chelan County Regional Justice Center where he was visiting an inmate.

"They [Wenatchee police] did show a picture of him, and it was Saul, and that's when both of us, we were just in shock. And we really don't want to believe it and we're going to have to now... Cuz he is gone," said Lopez.

Lopez's says she's not sure why his body was in Sunnyside all of his ties are in Wenatchee. Detectives continue with their investigation and no arrests have been made yet.

In the meantime, friends and family are in the process of making funeral arrangements.
