Local Humanitarians Recognized at 2009 Red Cross Real Heroes Breakfast
PASCO, Wash. -- Local humanitarians were honored for their good deeds today at the 2009 Red Cross Real Heroes Breakfast.
The event is the biggest fundraiser each year for the Benton-Franklin Red Cross. Heroes were nominated and selected in ten different categories like youth good samaritan, adult good samaritan, fire rescue, and pet rescue.
One of the heroes said it was humbling to be in such good company.
"It's just kind of intimidating to be amongst those folks who have done such a marvelous job volunteering in other efforts", said Bill Stokes. He was being recognized for his role in rescuing "Chocolate", the lab who's story captured the hearts of many last year.
