Kennewick, WA- The Department of Transportation is shooting to finish the Blue Bridge interchange project ahead of schedule.
Today the DOT, business and community leaders met in Columbia Park beneath the bridge to hear the good news that despite the lingering winter weather, the project is slightly ahead of schedule.
Over the spring and summer, DOT project engineer Moe Davari says construction crews will work nights, weekends and overtime to get the interchanges built before the end of October.
"The longest closure is from 240 to Columbia Drive, both directions. That's the one where we're actually going to rebuild that interchange and build the roundabouts. And that's going to be about 21 days."
The DOT says most of the closures will last four days, starting on a Thursday night and then re-opening for the Monday morning commute.
The first closure is scheduled for the first weekend of April.
