Weather Authority Update for Tuesday, May 21st @ 4:30 am

Good morning!

As a low pressure system approaches the coastline, rain showers will begin to push over the Cascade mountains this morning and throughout the day.  This storm originated in the Gulf of Alaska and is pulling down cool air that will drag our daytime highs back into the mid to low 70s, upper 60s for the region.

The cloud cover will be thick with rain showers in the Yakima Valley this morning, the Columbia Basin should start seeing showers around noon.  Thunderstorms are possible ahead of this storm as well, especially close to the Blue Mountains.

The winds will increase as the storm moves in, expect light winds around 5-10 miles per hour becoming 10-20 mph with gusts along the WA/OR border from 25-35 mph.

Rain showers may continue into Wednesday too as temperatures continue to fall into the 60s.  Overnight lows could dip into the 30s.

We'll begin to warm back up from Friday into Saturday.

Have a great day!
