KENNEWICK, WA - The City of Kennewick will get a $50,000 award to help economic revitalization and is moving forward in a national competition that could bring in millions more.
The Regional Chamber of Commerce and TRIDEC submitted the application and Kennewick is now one of 50 cities to make it to the quarterfinals in the "America's Best Communities" contest.
The city government, Port of Kennewick and Visit Tri-Cities are also partners in the effort.
The competition is sponsored by Frontier Communications, Dish Network, CoBank and the Weather Channel.
The top three communities in the competition will take home a total of $6 million, with the top winner getting $3 million.
