Obama Administration Approves Federal Assistance for Wildfires

PENDLETON, WA -  The Pendleton Fire Department says a fire destroyed a barn at 43490 Covey Lane Monday night.

The barn is at the corner of Hwy 395 and Covey Lane.

Firefighters say they had a hard time with burning power lines, limited water supply and few firefighters.

They were able to confine the fire to the barn. The fire forced crews to close Hwy 395 for about two and a half hours while they fought the fire.

The Pilot Rock Fire Department provided mutual aid.  Pacific Power, Oregon State Police, and the Umatilla County Sheriff's office also provided assistance. The cause is under investigation by the Pendleton Fire Department and the Oregon State Fire Marshal.
