KENNEWICK, Wash. - Kamiakin versus Kennewick is always a great football rivalry. This year's match-up brings playoff implications, for Kennewick. It's a bit complicated on how they can get in to the post-season.
The bottom line for the Kennewick Lions is to win Friday.
"What we'll pound throughout the week is the main thing, is to keep the main thing the main thing," said Bill Templeton, Kennewick Head Football Coach.
But that doesn't stop players from thinking about the playoffs.
"We know what's at stake, that's going to be on our mind the whole game. but I mean our focus is going to be on executing our game plan and doing what we need to do to get the win," said Devven Ramos, Senior Running Back.
To make the playoffs Kennewick needs Hanford to win and to beat Kamiakin, which has been easier said than done recently.
"Cross town rivalry is always big, I haven't got it yet but I'm looking forward to getting it on Friday. Last year was a tough loss, It came down to special teams," said Ramos.
"The last ten years there've been some really good battles between the two schools, in the playoffs, for playoff births, double overtime you name it," said Templeton.
Kamiakin on the other hand can still make the playoffs no matter who wins Thursday or Friday.
