ZILLAH, Wash.--Zillah High School Students wished their science teacher the best of luck Thursday as he prepares for a big announcement.
Jeff Charbonneau is one of four finalists for a National Teacher of the Year Award. He'll travel to Washington D.C. over the weekend to meet with President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden.
The winner will be announced Tuesday at the White House.
"Win or lose I see it as a win both ways," said Charbonneau. "If I win that's great, and it will mean a lot for our community and for our state. But even if I quote on quote lose, I've still gained an awful lot of experience, learned a lot of things that I can bring into the classroom."
Since the first award in 1952, Washington State has had three teachers receive the top honor including a math teacher from Walla Walla High School.
