YAKIMA, WA - The Yakima community honored Veterans with their annual Veterans Day Parade Wednesday morning.
People young and old lined the sidewalks along Yakima avenue showing their support.
We had a chance to catch up with a man who served during the Vietnam War.
Richard Skiens told us back then people didn't appreciate those in the military. When he returned from the war, he and his fellow soldiers dealt with death threats and taunting. But he's seen a change of heart over the years.
"Today the people are more appreciative, they're more thankful, and they understand more now, that it's a part of history," says Skiens.
The parade kicked off at 11 a.m. Wednesday, sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post.
