Walla Walla Police Recognized for Crime Prevention

WALLA WALLA, Wash. - The Washington State Crime Prevention Association is recognizing the Walla Walla Police Department's Community Programs office.

The association gave the department the "Crime Prevention Unit of the Year" award to Vicki Ruley, the Crime Prevention Coordinator for the department. The group also recognized her for her efforts in the City's National Night Out events, Radar Reader Board, "Chief for a Day", Citizens' Academy, Prescription Take Back Day & Shred Events, Violence Prevention Conference, and the Crime Free Rental Housing program.

Sgt. Steve Potter, Ruley's supervisor, nominated her for the award for her tireless efforts in leading the City in numerous crime prevention programs.

"Crime Prevention programs are frequently overlooked in the impact they have in keeping our community safe," said Police Chief Scott Bieber, "this award is a tribute to the quality and quantity of Vicki's work and the Crime Prevention programs she has been instrumental in delivering to the citizens of Walla Walla".
