OLYMPIA,WA- The Washington State Department of Corrections (DOC) has issued new responses to the coronavirus after a second case is confirmed at headquarters.
The employee was working on the third floor of DOC Headquarters in Olympia and has tested positive for the coronavirus. They have not been into to work since March 11th.
When the employee first reported symptoms, Corrections identified employees considered to be in close contact with the employee and notified them. Anyone confirmed to have been in close contact was asked to self-quarantine at home and monitor for symptoms until the suggested 14-day quarantine period ends.
So far, the DOC has implemented Department of Health procedures and will continue to monitor employees for symptoms. Corrections staff will be isolated if they were in contact with ones infected. The DOC is continuously disinfecting facilities during this time period.
