UPDATE (9/17/2020 1:05 PM): The Cold Creek Fire is now 5% containment and currently has 252 acres burning.

Level 2 "Be Set" evacuation notices remain in effect around Clear Lake and Rimrock Lake.

Highway 12 is still closed around the fire area due to fire near the road and firefighters working on the roadway. Boulders and debris continue to fall out on to the roadway making it unsafe for apparatus to park on the side close to the mountain, so they are mostly in the roadway on the east bound lanes.

The Pacific Crest Trail is open in the White Pass area at this time.

UPDATE (9/16/2020 2:08 PM): The Cold Creek fire has now burned 100 acres and remains at 0% containment.

US 12 White Pass will remain closed today due to fires. Please continue to avoid the area and use alternate routes. We will have an update again Thursday.

UPDATE (9/16/2020 9:33 AM): Currently, the fire is zero percent contained, is on both sides of US12, and not threatening any structures.

The current evacuation is Level 2 “Be Set” impacting 130-150 residents/homes. Most of these residences are cabins. Please make preparations to leave.

An Everbridge (Alert Yakima) notice was sent out informing people in the area about the evacuation notice. We encourage everybody to sign up for Alert Yakima. “If we can’t reach you, we can’t warn you.” https://member.everbridge.net/index/453003085612758#/signup

US12 White Pass is still closed. We urge people to stay out of the Clear Lake and Rimrock Lake area.
The Rimrock Cabin Owners Association and the Bear Cove Association were contacted to pass on the evacuation notices to their members.
WSDOT and WSP are coordinating road closures. Residents should show ID and have proof of address. No other people will be allowed through the road closures.
3 of 4 summer camps were contacted and all camps were closed. The
U.S. Forest Service - Okanogan - Wenatchee National Forest will be conducting hiking and OHV trail sweeps to warn hunters, off-grid campers, hikers, and anyone else they find.

UPDATE (9/15/2020 3:48 PM): The fire is burning on both sides of Highway 12, primarily to the south, but there are spot fires (approx. 5 acres) to the north.

Fire crews are scouting the area trying to determine the best operational and tactical plans to attack the fire.

SR 410 has a separate closure near King/Pierce Co. line (all lanes are closed) eastbound & westbound from 323rd Ave SE (MP 29) to 583rd Ave E (MP 43) near Greenwater. This may affect your detour around the closure of US 12 due to Cold Creek Fire.

SR 123 is open (link between SR 410 and US 12), but is not recommended for large commercial trucks.

UPDATE (9/15/2020 12:07 PM): Level 2 "Be Set" evacuation notices are in effect. Be prepared to leave if you are around Clear Lake and Rimrock Lake.
