Hanford firefighters host fundraiser for breast cancer awareness Month

RICHLAND - The Hanford fire department's union firefighters will be hosting a chili feed fundraiser to help raise money for breast cancer awareness.

The firefighters are teaming up with Warrior Sisterhood and Li'l Firehouse Coffee to host this event. The Warrior Sisterhood is a support group offered through the Tri-Cities Cancer Center and was started in 2014 by four local women whose goal is to create a safe place for women fighting cancer to come together. All the proceeds from this event will be going to the Warrior Sisterhood's program.

The event will feature homemade chili for the public to buy; there will also be a donation bucket for those who wish to simply attend to support the event and raise awareness for breast cancer.

More than anything those hosting this event want to emphasize the importance of the community coming together in a show of support for those fighting breast cancer.

The event is taking place today at Li'l Firehouse Coffee in Richland and will start at 11 a.m. and go on until 1:30 p.m.
