CWU Football Player Faces Rape Charge

ELLENSBURG, Wash.- A Central Washington University football player is facing a rape charge. Josh Rojas was arrested for allegedly raping an 18-year-old freshman after he met her at a party last Friday night. Rojas is a sophomore linebacker on the football team, and according to head football coach Beau Baldwin, a model citizen.

Police say Rojas and the alleged victim met at a house party on the 1800 block of Chestnut Street. Police say they left the party and went back to Rojas' house on the 400 block of East Helena Avenue, where the 18-year-old girl says the raped occured.

Police also say Rojas and the alleged victim went to high school together, they were three years apart.

Coach Baldwin has not taken any formal action against Rojas at this point, but says right now the sophomore linebacker won't be with the team.

A $10,000 bail has been posted. Rojas will be formally charged next Monday. Prosecutors will likely charge him with second degree rape.
