Ken Freeman Sentenced to 50 Years in Prison

SPOKANE, Wash-- Convicted child molester from Richland, Ken Freeman, is going to prison for a very long time. Freeman raped his own daughter and fled to China, sparking an international manhunt, ending with his arrest in Hong Kong.

Wednesday in federal court in Spokane, Freeman was sentenced to fifty-years in prison. He also got 20 years for state charges.

Freeman video-taped raping his ten-year-old daughter and put it on the Internet. It became one of the most downloaded child pornography videos ever.

He plead guilty to avoid going to trial. In federal court Freeman said he didn't want a trial because he wanted to spare his daughter the pain of having to see the video he shot of him molesting her.

The U.S. Attorney said narcissism is why he didn't want a trial; she thinks Freeman just doesn't want the world to know what he really did.

"Every day of his 50 years that he is in prison, every day someone will trade that child pornography over the Internet. There is no way to stop it. He'll victimize his victim every day for the next 50 years himself," said Tom Rice, U.S. Attorney's Office, Spokane.

Freeman will serve his two sentences concurrently in a federal prison. The U.S. Attorney's Office says this will likely be the last time we hear from him again.

He is not allowed to receive any money from books or movies made about the case. He also has to pay about $11,000 to his victim's mother for counseling fees.
