Memorial Follies return in May, organizers search for local talent

YAKIMA, Wash. – Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital is bringing back one of its most popular fundraiser's next month after a three-year break.

"Memorial Follies" is a musical variety show that brings together members of the community, including hospital staff, to make of the production's cast.

Director Jamie Donegan is based in New York City and is returning to Yakima to once again oversee the show. He says they are looking for people of all backgrounds to take part in various acts.

"We will have all levels of talent," he said. "We will have people who are really amazing singers, really amazing dancers, we'll have some comedy people but there's a place for everyone."

Donegan will host a "Meet the Director" party at the Capitol Theatre on Tuesday beginning at 5:30 p.m. Auditions take place on Wednesday and Thursday and he will have the entire cast assigned to different parts by Friday.

The event benefits Memorial's neonatal intensive care unit and also kicks off the hospital's 60th anniversary celebration.

Tickets are now available at the Capitol's box office for the show's two performances on May 22.
