Popular Yakima night club will close its doors

YAKIMA, Wash - Pete's Nightclub is reinventing itself as a family style restaurant and bar.

For a decade, Pete's has been a fixture of Yakima's night life. But neighboring businesses have complained for years about empty beer bottles and trash from late night partiers exiting the club. So they're happy to see Pete's change its image.

"I think it's a positive development for the area," said Ron Bonlender, owner of the Sub Shops of Yakima.

The night club will remain open for a few more months with re-modeling expected to begin this spring.

Pete's owners say they aren't closing because past episodes of violence outside the club. But instead to capitalize on the revitalization of downtown Yakima.
