KENNEWICK, WA - A family that lost their 2-year-old son back in 2016 is finally getting a chance to move forward, but after almost two and a half years.
You may remember this story we first brought you in 2016. Police found 2-year-old David Schrieber unresponsive, while he was under the care of his nanny. The nanny was charged for causing his death.
Back then, court documents show that 2-year-old David Schrieber started choking. Shortly after that he was taken to the hospital.
Documents also show he had a fractured skull; indicating that he was injured before getting to the hospital.
Prosecutors delayed filing the charges for nearly a year after the boy's death. Documents show this is because of unavoidable reasons like the doctor on the case getting sick.
Now - parents Daniel and Jennifer Schrieber have waited more than two years for their nanny to go to trial.
Wednesday morning in court, the toddler's parents finally got some relief knowing that a trial date is set.
A Benton County judge scheduled the pre-trial date for March 22, with a new trial date for April 8.
