Walla Walla Airport receives $1.3 million in federal grants for new equipment building

WALLA WALLA, WA - Four airports across Washington State will receive over $23 million in federal grants, of which $1.3 million will go to Walla Walla Airport.

The funding comes from the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Airport Improvement Program (AIP) and will be used to improve critical airport infrastructure.

Other Washington grant recipients include Seattle-Tacoma International ($8.6 million), Bellingham International ($8.8 million), and Pullman-Moscow Regional ($1.08 million).

The Walla Walla Regional Airport will use this grant funding to construct a 17,000 square foot snow removal equipment building to extend the life of the equipment by protecting it from adverse weather conditions. Construction on the snow removal equipment building is expected to start this summer and finish in time for the 2021-22 winter season and is part of a larger slate of capital improvement projects at the airport.
