WAPATO, WA - The mayor of Wapato wants back pay for her service as mayor and city council member after a pay change ordinance may not have been published and therefore not legally changed.
This comes after city officials say changes to the mayor's pay was approved by the council in November of 2018.
The council decreased the pay from $1,000 per month to $1 per year.
Mayor Dora Alvarez-Roa says the pay change ordinance may not have been published and therefore it was not legal.
In a letter to the city, Alvarez-Roa is requesting one thousand dollars for each month she served as mayor since September 2018.
